The Magic Glass Slipper

Abheeshek Sharma and Amita Natu Patel found love in the most traditional circumstances. They were introduced by a mutual friend and fell in love almost instantaneously. Abheeshek believed that if one is able to communicate with another for two months without running out of things to say, there must be something special in that relationship.

The couple met for the first time in Memphis, Tennessee. Following that, they knew they were meant to be a part of each other’s lives.

Six months later, they were engaged.

“I know that Amita is deeply fascinated by Disney’s fairytale character Cinderella. I remember her dressing up as Cinderella for Halloween once. I wanted to ask her hand in marriage in the most magical manner and went on to execute the nitty-gritty details. I took her to Disneyland for a romantic dinner on a private yacht. After dinner, we approached the lake in front of Cinderella’s palace. The castle glimmered with light and as the fireworks exploded into the starry sky, I presented Amita with a beautiful glass slipper which contained the engagement ring”, said a delighted Abheeshek.

Although both the families wanted a destination wedding, Amita’s family was passionate about a unique cruise wedding. “My father was keen on a destination wedding, preferably on a cruise. He wanted a fun wedding. Unfortunately my dad passed away two years before the wedding but we knew we had to complete the dream,” said Amita.

The cruise sailed through the Royal Carribbean, the Grandeur of the sea while 150 guests witnessed the breathtaking wedding ceremony. Michael and Haley Shandro of Shandro Photography immortalised the newlywed’s precious moments with beautiful photographs on that day.

The wedding was filled with exciting performances including a special performance from the groom and his family and friends who danced to Abheeshek’s favourite number, Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

The couple quipped, “Indian weddings last for days but we managed to complete a fulfilling wedding ceremony in just one day. It was relaxing and stress-free.” With Amita heading back to school and Abheeshek travelling for work, honeymoon plans have been put on hold.

On a bright note, they were delighted to have had a semi-honeymoon through their destination wedding.”
